Share Your Trees Please!
Are you a Botany Buddy user that wants to share Botany Buddy contents with your clients or friends? If they are users too, you can build and share all the collections you want, but what if they are not? The answer is really very simple, share a screen shot!
The other day someone asked me if I could tell them about a tree on Twitter. I though to myself…”Is this guy freakin’ crazy? Doesn’t he have my email? I can’t do this in 140 characters ” Then it struck me! I opened my Botany Buddy app and started taking screen shots of the plant’s profile to send him.
It works like this: You can take a photo of any screen on you iPhone or iPod Touch by simply holding the home screen icon at the bottom of the device and clicking the power-down button on the top right of the device at the same time. Your screen will flash like a camera and the image has been saved in your pictures on the device. Apple will allow you to email up to five pics at a time directly from the Photos icon on the device which is perfect to capture one complete plant profile and one close-up photo.

It took less time to do this than write an email, conveyed more information than I every could, did it in one Tweet, and most importantly make me look great!
The problem was solved, and it just so turns out five shrunken pic links from Hoot Suite or Tweet Deck fit perfectly into a tweet with a little room to spare. Take that Twitter and your 140 characters! I have to admit it felt really cool to do and made me look pretty cool too. I designed this app to do lots of things, but everyday it seems like I find a new use. I’ll be sure and share them when I do, but in the mean time get out there and share some trees yourself!
