The Gum Acacia (Acacia nilotica adstringens) is a medium sized flowering tree for landscapes and gardens. This variety is a solid performing tree form with the most impressive feature being the mahogany bark. The leaves can defoliate in Zone 8 when it is extremely cold and in all zones during times of severe drought. Wattles (Acacia) can naturalize and be invasive in warmer climates. The native species is most common in production.
