Gum Arabic - Acacia senegal senegal

The Gum Arabic (Acacia senegal senegal) is a medium sized flowering tree for landscapes and gardens. This plant is not the most structural but can make an effective shrub like tree when nothing else will survive. It is often mistaken for a young Locust by those from colder climates. Wattles (Acacia) can naturalize and be invasive in warmer climates. The thorns on this variety are short, but brutal as they are on three sides of the stem at each juncture. This makes them hard to avoid no matter how careful you are. The native species is most common in production.
