Big Leaf Maple - Acer macrophyllum

The Big Leaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum) is a large deciduous tree for landscapes, gardens, and naturalizing. This tree loves moist climates. The bark retains moisture and hosts other plant life such as ferns, lychens, and mosses. The species does not do well at elevations above 5500 feet. The native species is most common in production.
