Bloodgood Japanese Maple - Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood'

The Bloodgood Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood') is a small deciduous tree ideal for a specimen in landscapes and gardens. This is probably the most popular of the burgundy leaf Japanese Maples. It has a reliable foliage color in summer and an interesting branching habit in winter. This species is sensitive to winterkill and often needs careful pruning. The foliage can often burn in hot afternoon sun, but also needs sun to maintain it's color. This is a cultivated variety of Acer palmatum.
