The Whale's Tongue Agave (Agave ovatifolia) is a medium sized succulent shrub ideal for tropical and arid landscapes and gardens. Obviosly this plant is named for the wide and fat leaves that hang out like a tongue. It makes for a striking clean look that stays that way with few suckers. The spikes on the edge of the leaves are extremely sharp and can cut skin. Do not prune without protection. The native species is most common in production.
