Allegheny Serviceberry - Amelanchier laevis
The Allegheny Serviceberry (Amelanchier laevis) is a medium sized deciduous flowering tree for landscapes, gardens and naturalizing. This plant has a great flower, berry, and fall color. Serviceberries are naturally found along the forest edge in partial light. This variety is less showy in the fall than other Amelanchier. Balled and burlapped trees do not transplant well. Either cut back the top when planting or plant a container grown specimen. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
