Sunjoy™ Golden Pillar Barberry - Berberis thunbergii 'Maria'
The Sunjoy™ Golden Pillar Barberry (Berberis thunbergii 'Maria') is a medium sized deciduous shrub for borders, landscapes and gardens that is ideal for hedging. This variety is known for the very upright branching habit and bright yellow leaves. It is harty beyong the listed zone 7, but the foliage will burn in zones 8 and up. This species is considered to be an exotic invasive species in many states and should not be used in wooded areas. It is also very thorny and difficult to keep clean of leaves and debris.
