The Yellow Birch (Betula alleghaniensis) is a medium sized deciduous tree for landscapes, gardens and naturalizing. The exfoliating bark provides year round interest and small leaves provide a dappled shade. This plant is difficult to underplant due to a shallow root system. Expect heavy leaf drop when transplanting. The native species is most common in production.
