The Heritage River Birch (Betula nigra 'Heritage') is a medium sized deciduous tree for landscapes, gardens and naturalizing. This variety is very drought tolerant. The Exfoliating bark provides year round interest and small leaves provide a dappled shade. This variety also has excellent fall color and is borer resistant. This plant is difficult to underplant due to a shallow root system. Expect heavy leaf drop when transplanting. This is a naturally occurring cultivar of Betula nigra.
