Little King River Birch - Betula nigra 'Little King'

The Little King River Birch (Betula nigra 'Little King') is a small tree or large shrub for landscapes, gardens, and naturalizing. This variety is very drought tolerant with a dwarf spreading habit. The Exfoliating bark provides year round interest. This variety also has excellent fall color and is borer resistant. This plant is difficult to underplant due to a shallow root system. Expect heavy leaf drop when transplanting. This is a naturally occurring cultivar of Betula nigra. Photos from the parent species will aid in identification.
