The Dakota Pinnacle Asian White Birch (Betula platyphylla 'Dakota Pinnacle') is a medium sized deciduous tree for landscape and gardens. This variety is desired for it's narrow upright shape and weeping habit. The exfoliating bark provides year round interest. It is also much easier to underplant than other Birches. The variety is very susceptible to the bronze birch borer. Expect heavy leaf drop when transplanting. This is a cultivated variety of Betula platyphylla found at North Dakota State University from an open pollinated population. Some of the photos are from the parent species for identification purposes.
