Alamos Pea Flower - Brongniartia alamosana

The Alamos Pea Flower (Brongniartia alamosana) is a small to medium sized flowering tree for landscapes and gardens. This plant will actually hold the leaves until the new buds start to swell and knock them off. The flowers appear at the same time when the plant is almost leafless. The tree itself can look a little scruffy, and the seed have been known to germinate in the wild and become invasive. The native species is most common in production.
