Apple of Sodom - Calotropis procera

The Apple of Sodom (Calotropis procera) is a small broadleaf evergreen for landscapes and gardens. This is and interesting tree with lots of uses. The flower is attractive, the sap is medicinal, and the fruit is used to make gun powder. The fruit is beautiful and looks like an apple but explodes when ripe to release poisonous seeds and a "fuzz" that is exposive and flamable. The native species is most common in production.
