European Hornbeam - Carpinus betulus

The European Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) is a medium sized deciduous tree for landscapes and screening. This plant has wonderful bark in winter and is often pleached in Europe to form large sheered hedges. The seeds and catkins can create litter in high traffic areas. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
