Indian Laburnum - Cassia fistula

The Indian Laburnum (Cassia fistula) is a medium sized flowering tree for landscapes and gardens. This very upright tree can be mistaken for weeping from a distance due to all the drooping flowers and seed pods. It is deciduous in zone 9, but can retain leaves in frost free winters. This plant can reseed and become an invasive species. As a result it has naturalized much of Florida. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
