Purple Catalpa - Catalpa X erubescens 'Purpurea'™
The Purple Catalpa (Catalpa X erubescens 'Purpurea'™) is a large flowering shade tree for landscapes and gardens. This tree has all the attributes of Catalpa bignonioides, with new growth that comes out purple and turns green in the summer. The very fast growing and the irregular habit of the branching can lead to snow, wind and ice damage. This tree is a cultivated hybrid of Catalpa bignonioides and Catalpa ovata.
