The Kapok (Ceiba acuminata) is a medium sized deciduous tree for landscapes and gardens. This is not the most aesthetic tree, but has a rich history of uses. The cotton in the seed pods was used for may things now made with latex. This is a bat pollinated tree and the flowers only open at night. The trunks and branches are encircled in thorns. The Native species is most common in production.
