Compact Hinoki Falsecypress - Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Compacta'
The Compact Hinoki Falsecypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Compacta') is a small to medium sized coniferous evergreen tree for use as a landscape or garden specimen. This variety has a tighter growth habit than Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Gracilis'™ but is similar in size and usage. The interior sheds as new growth sets causing a browning around the stems and branches. This is not a worthy cause for exclusion from gardens. This is a cultivated variety of Chamaecyparis obtusa.
