The Nana Gracillis Hinoki Falsecypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Nana Gracilis') is a compact coniferous evergreen tree for use as a landscape or garden specimen. The smaller growth habit is depicted in the second habit photo that features a 60 year old specimen. The interior does shed as new growth sets and causes a browning around the stems and branches. This is not a worthy cause for exclusion from gardens. This is a cultivated variety of Chamaecyparis obtusa. Images of Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Gracilis'™ have been used in this profile to depict the needle, cone and flower for identification purposes.
