Pacific Dogwood - Cornus nuttallii

The Pacific Dogwood (Cornus nuttallii) is a larger flowering tree for shade found naturalized along the Pacific coast. This species has a taller, almost columnar habit than other dogwoods. The flowers also often have five bracts. The bark needs to be protected from hot sun to prevent cracking. There are a few cultivars of this species in production, but the species is most common.
