The Rotte Zeller Hazelnut (Corylus avellana 'Rote Zeller') is a small ornamental tree for landscapes and gardens planted mainly for the nuts. The new growth (leaves, flowers, and nut casings) emerge deep burgundy then turn green making this a very ornamental specimen. You also get the hazelnuts. The suckering habit can naturalize and overtake an area. Cultivar of Corylus avellana.
