Western Hazelnut - Corylus cornuta var. californica

The Western Hazelnut (Corylus cornuta var. californica) is Large native shrub growing throughout the West Coast. The species is planted mainly in naturalized landscapes for the fall color. This plant can be very invasive (though not exotic), and the nut is not as desirable as other species. The native species is most common in production.
