Stricta Italian Cypress - Cupressus sempervirens 'Stricta'
The Stricta Italian Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens 'Stricta') is a columnar evergreen ideal for manicured gardens. This is the columnar evergreen all others aspire to be... the quintessential columnar specimen. This plant is probably a little over rated, but wouldn't we all like to have that problem. Some consider this to actually be the species rather than another cultivar. They refer to there being two varieties 'horizontalis'and 'strictus'due to a slight variation in branching.
