Mexican Tree Grass - Dasylirion quadrangulatum

The Mexican Tree Grass (Dasylirion quadrangulatum) is a broadleaf evergreen tree or shrub for landscapes and gardens. When young this looks like a grass, but over time it develops a trunk. It almost looks like a fiberoptic ball on top of a post at maturity. It also puts out hundreds of flowers in summer that can reach up to 15 feet in height. This plant has no negatives of note. The native species is most common in production.
