Texas Persimmon - Diospyros texana

The Texas Persimmon (Diospyros texana) is a Fruit bearing tree grown mainly for forestry and byproduct usage. The wood is sought after for tools and the fruit is uses to create a black dye. The leaves fall off from drought or as new ones set and do not achieve fall color. The native species is most common in production.
