Kei-Apple - Dovyalis caffra

The Kei-Apple (Dovyalis caffra) is a medium sized fruit bearing tree for landscapes and gardens. The flowers on this plant are not very noticable, but the fruit turns a beautiful orange when ripe through the last half of summer and fall. The fruit is edible and a favorite for jams. This plant has very large thorns. The native species is most common in production.
