American Beech - Fagus grandifolia

The American Beech (Fagus grandifolia) is a large deciduous shade tree ideal for landscapes and naturalizing in the native range. One of my all time favorite trees. I rank my fondness with that of the Beatles. Incredible bark, graceful branching, and a late fall color that defines the Appalachian Mountains. This plant has no negatives of note. There are cultivars of this species in production. However, most cultivated Fagus are from Fagus sylvatica.
