Apple-Ring Acacia - Faidherbia albida

The Apple-Ring Acacia (Faidherbia albida) is a large deciduous shade tree for arid landscapes and gardens. This plant has a fast growing upright habit and is named for the pods that dry to a tanish color resembling dried apple wrings. It also has showing white spikes for flowers in spring and early summer. This plant is extremely thorny, and they often shed and fall to the ground with the leaf. Watch your step! The native species is most common in production.
