Chilean Strawberry - Fragaria chiloensis

The Chilean Strawberry (Fragaria chiloensis) is a deciduous groundcover for woodland gardens or sunny locations that is found native to parts of the United States. This vigorous grower with fragrant flowers makes a good early spring groundcover that can be shaded by later tall woodland flowers. This plant needs early spring light and does not like to grow under evergreens. This plant is technically native to North America, but outside of its native habitat can be aggressive if not invasive. A few cultivars are emerging in production.
