Chihuahuan Ash - Fraxinus papillosa

The Chihuahuan Ash (Fraxinus papillosa) is a broadleaf evergreen shade tree for landscapes and gardens in warm climates. This is one of the few tropical Ash species, making it the best for arid locations. There is some controversy as to whether it is native or naturalized in AZ and NM. This plant can defoliate in Zone 9 and in severe drought. The native species is most common in production.
