The Blue Ash (Fraxinus quadrangulata) is a deciduous shade tree native to the Ohio and Mississippi watersheds. This variety is good for naturalizing as it is tolerant of drought and alkaline soils. This tree is a heavy seeder that can get messy and reproduce in wet areas. Most varieties of Ash are being attacked by a borer throughout the Ohio River valley and it is moving westward. The native species is most common in production.
