Velvet Ash - Fraxinus velutina

The Velvet Ash (Fraxinus velutina) is a deciduous shade tree ideal for landscapes, gardens, and street trees. This is one of the more heat tolerant deciduous Ash and is extremely tolerant of poor soil and harsh conditions making it a favorite Southwestern street tree. While this plant is for warmer climates it need a dormancy period and does not do well in zones 10 and 11. There are a more cultivars of this species in production.
