Cityline™ Venice Bigleaf Hydrangea - Hydrangea macrophylla 'Venice Raven'

The Cityline™ Venice Bigleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Venice Raven') is a medium sized deciduous flowering shrub for landscapes, gardens and borders. This plant has large ball shaped flowers that emerge in summer and quickly turn an intense fuchsia color. Adding acidity to the soil can turn it an equally intense blue. This variety is more compact than most bigleafs. The flowers will dry on the plant, but should be removed quickly so buds can set for the following year. This plant blooms on old wood so it may need protection in zones 5 and 6 over winter. Mound leaves in the fall, remove in the spring, and limit pruning to removing only dead wood. This plant is a trademarked culitvated variety of Hydrangea macrophylla with a patent held by Proven Winners®.
