The Japanese Holly (Ilex crenata) is a broadleaf evergreen shrub for landscapes and gardens. The small leaves and the ability to releaf on interior stems makes this very tolerant of heavy pruning. It is often mistaken for Boxwood but is less likely to wind burn. This plant may require winter watering in drier winters. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
