Berry Nice® Winterberry Holly - Ilex verticillata 'Spriber'
The Berry Nice® Winterberry Holly (Ilex verticillata 'Spriber') is a medium sized deciduous shrub ideal for landscapes, gardens, and naturalizing. This species is planted mainly for the bright red to orange berries that emerge in fall and persist all winter long. This variety gets a little larger and has a heavier berry than straight species. It is also known to be more mildew resistant. This plant does require a male to pollinate for berries. Be sure and ask the retailer for one. This plant is a trademarked culitvated variety of Ilex verticillata with a patent held by Proven Winners®. Photos from the parent species will aid in identification.
