Arizona Walnut - Juglans major

The Arizona Walnut (Juglans major) is a medium sized shade and nut producing tree for landscapes and gardens. This variety is native to the desert Southwest and Mexico making it tolerant of extreme heats. Walnuts produce a toxin that can prevent certain plants from growing beneath them. The native species is most common in production.
