Eastern Red Cedar - Juniperus virginiana

The Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana) is a pyramidal coniferous evergreen native to most of the United States. This species is excellent for naturalizing or use in a formal landscape. It is the darkest green species of Juniper in the summer and can turn purplish brown in the winter. The plant can get some bagworms, but it is usually when they are sheared in more formal settings with less ventilation. There are hundreds of cultivars of this plant in production.
