Mountain Laurel - Kalmia latifolia

The Mountain Laurel (Kalmia latifolia) is a flowering broadleaf evergreen shrub for landscapes and gardens native to the Appalachian Mountains. This species is great for naturalizing with prolific early season blooms and evergreen foliage. It thrives in humus rich, shallow and damp soil. The entire plant is poisonous! It also does not transplant well. Buy a container grown specimen if possible. There are hundreds of cultivars of this plant in production.
