Coastal Doghobble - Leucothoe axillaris

The Coastal Doghobble (Leucothoe axillaris) is a small spreading broadleaf evergreen for landscapes gardens and naturalizing that is native to piedmont and coastal wetlands. Glossy green leaves, a Lily of the Valley type flower, and a naturalizing habit make these favorites for naturalizing and shady gardens. This plant often develops root rot in pots at the nursery before they are sold. Expect to lose some. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
