Chinese Privet - Ligustrum sinense

The Chinese Privet (Ligustrum sinense) is a large sometimes evergreen shrub that is most commonly used as a sheared hedge. This plant can be sheared to as little as three feet or allowed to grow into a small tree. It is extremely drought tolerant. The species has escaped into nature and become invasive in AL, AR, CT, FL, GA, HI, KY, LA, MA, MD, MO, MS, NC, NJ, OK, RI, SC, TN, TX and VA. The native species is most common in production.
