Spicebush - Lindera benzoin

The Spicebush (Lindera benzoin) is a large, sometimes evergreen, flowering shrub native to forests of the Eastern United States. The wood and roots are aromatic when broken. It is most notable for the display of early yellow flowers in the forest midrange before leaves emerge. This plant likes to reseed and spread. It is best kept as a small tree form. The native species is most common in production.
