American Sweetgum - Liquidambar styraciflua
The American Sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua) is a medium sized shade tree for landscapes, gardens, and street trees. Nice horizontal branching on a trunk with a clear leader make this ideal for limbing up in urban conditions. It is drought and pollution tolerant as well. The seed pods are extremely messy when they drop. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
