The Winter Honeysuckle (Lonicera fragrantissima) is a flowering deciduous shrub for landscapes and gardens. This is one of the earliest and most fragrant of flowering shrubs. It is a definite harbinger of spring. This plant is extremely invasive species in warmer climates and has naturalized in AL, GA, KY, LA, MD, MS, NC, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, UT, and VA. The native species is most common in production.
