Cucumber Magnolia - Magnolia acuminata

The Cucumber Magnolia (Magnolia acuminata) is a deciduous flowering tree native to the Southeastern United States. Large leaves, a fragrant white flower, and a very showy berry give the tree great interest. It is a little lacking in structure and looks best naturalized. This plant does not like drought or overwatering. It needs moist well drained soil. There are a few varieties of this species in production but the native is most common. This plant does not transplant well. Plant only container grown specimens for best results.
