The Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) is a Broadleaf evergreen flowering tree for landscapes, gardens and naturalizing that is native to the Southeast United States. This is probably the most popular species of Magnolia. It has giant creamy white flowers with a lemony fragrance and glossy green leaves all year round. The shedding of old leaves as new ones emerge can get a little messy. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
