The Star Magnolia (Magnolia stellata) is a deciduous flowering tree for landscapes and gardens. This is one of the three most planted species of Magnolia. It has white star shaped flowers that emerge very early in spring. This species blooms a little earlier than native varieties and may get burned by frost. It has escaped into nature and become invasive in parts of Ohio. There are more cultivars of this species in production.
