Ashe's Bigleaf Magnolia - Magonlia macrophylla ssp. ashei

The Ashe's Bigleaf Magnolia (Magonlia macrophylla ssp. ashei) is a deciduous flowering tree for landscapes, gardens, and naturalizing. This subspecies stands out from other bigleaf varieties in the broad spreading shape. It still gets the big flowers, but they are actually visible because they are not way above your head. This species is hard to transplant. Only buy container grown specimens. The native species is most common in production.
