The Island Barberry (Mahonia pinnata ssp. Insularis) is a broadleaf evergreen shrub for landscapes and gardens. This variety is more upright than most varieties of Mahonia which displays the berries extremely well. This species is extremely prickly and miserable to prune or touch. This variety is one of the most sensitive to freezing temperatures. This plant is a cultivated variety of Mahonia pinnata.
