Red Lotus Tree - Manglietia insignis

The Red Lotus Tree (Manglietia insignis) is a broadleaf evergreen flowering tree for landscapes and gardens. This plant has glossy green leaves and a Magnolia like flower in spring. It is often mistaken for a Magnolia, but blooms a little later. This plant can defoliate during winter in colder climates. The native species is most common in production.
